Original Stitch
Upcycling is trendy, offering work to Mums is trendy, and creating unique products and selling them online is trendy. Original Stitch approached Weboo to help them with their web site promoting products created from recycled materials manufactured by British Mums.
Weboo delivered a search engine optimised, flexible ecommerce solution, designed to change as Original Stitch evolved their product line. Original Stitch currently sells a variety of physical and digital products through their online store. Weboo has assisted with online marketing, Search Engine Optimisation, and design optimisation services. We often speak with Original Stitch to offer technical and strategic guidance.
As creative types using recycled and vintage fabrics to create quirky accessories for the home, we knew nothing about developing the online side of our business – we knew we wanted communications with our stitchers and customers to be online; but with zero experience in website building, almost no experience of social media, and a very tiny budget, it was a big ask.
Weboo not only found us the right web building solution and initially developed our site, but gently nudged us into the world of the web. Our solution meant that we had to learn how to use Joomla ourselves to achieve the look we wanted and manage the day-to-day content and product offering, but Weboo was always available to answer our rookie questions. Importantly though, Weboo taught us how to look for the answers ourselves, by embracing forums, YouTube help, blog tutorials, and other information resources; so that now we have a completely hands on approach to our entire web offering, be it the website, our stitchers’ social network, or our social media interaction.
Weboo not only offered us great value for money in our website build, but were our go-to team when we got stuck with many aspects of our business – they helped us find great free online apps – survey apps, image-editing applications, newsletter providers, application-form apps, even setting us up on Google Apps and Google Mail to get us started. It was a massive learning curve, but they dragged us kicking and screaming into the 21st Century and we now feel confident that we can compete at the highest levels in our industry, even as a kitchen-table business.
